Each year, Walford is pleased to offer a number of scholarships that promote academic excellence, foster diversity, recognise students for their individual strengths and talents, and alleviate financial barriers to a Walford education.
Our scholarship offerings span Years 5 to 12, and include various academic, music, boarding, sport, equity-based, and all-rounder scholarships:

Academic Scholarship
The following Academic Scholarships are awarded annually to new or continuing students in Years 6 to 10:
- Year 6 Nina Morrison
- Year 7 Academic Excellence
- Year 8 Lydia Adamson
- Year 9 Ellen Benham
- Year 10 Mabel Jewell Baker
Academic Scholarships provide remission of up to 50% of tuition fees for up to seven years.
Students who wish to be considered must undertake the ACER Examination. The next ACER Examination for the 2027 school year will take place on Saturday 7 February 2026. Applications are now open, and will close at 11.30pm ACDT on Friday 23 January 2026.

Foundation Scholarship
The Foundation Scholarship provides remission of up to 50% of tuition fees for a new student entering Year 10, for the remaining duration of the student's schooling. Preference is offered to boarding students.
Description
To be considered for a Foundation Scholarship, students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
* Demonstrate a sound academic record and continue to make good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard throughout her schooling.
* Demonstrate skills and participation across a number of key areas including leadership, sports, music, the arts or community service.
* Commit to participating in the life of the School, and show the potential to positively contribute to the community.
* Display good character and embrace the School’s values of Courage, Commitment, Community and Growth.
Consideration is also given to candidates with demonstrated financial needs who would not otherwise be able to attend Walford.
Currently accepting applications for 2027.
Frances Adamson Scholarship
Awarded to a new student entering in Years 10 or 11.
The Frances Adamson Scholarship provides remission of 50-100% of tuition fees per year for the duration of her schooling at Walford.
The Frances Adamson Scholarship is named after the 36th Governor of South Australia and one of our most eminent old scholars, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC. Her Excellency is a strong advocate for education as the gateway to a student achieving not only her best but also being able to contribute to the world, in her own way.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for the Frances Adamson Scholarship, students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
- Demonstrate regular school attendance.
- Demonstrate good academic progress and potential.
- Demonstrate strong character and leadership capacity.
- Demonstrate financial needs to not otherwise be able to attend Walford.
- Show community or cultural involvement.
- Show evidence and reflection against the School values of Courage, Commitment, Community and Growth.
Applications from students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and of refugee status, are encouraged.
Students who attend Walford on a Frances Adamson Scholarship will be supported through a collection of personalised support mechanisms.

Principal's Scholarship
A Principal's Scholarship provides remission of up to 40% of tuition fees for the remaining duration of the student's schooling at Walford. New or continuing students for Years 7 to 12 are eligible to apply.
Description
To be considered for a Principal’s Scholarship, students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
* Demonstrate a sound academic record and continue to make good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard throughout her schooling.
* Demonstrate skills and participation across a number of key areas including leadership, sports, music, The Arts or community service.
* Commit to participating in the life of the School, and show the potential to positively contribute to the community.
* Display good character and alignment with the School’s values of Courage, Commitment, Community and Growth.
Consideration is also given to candidates with demonstrated financial needs who would not otherwise be able to attend Walford.
Accepting applications for the 2026 and 2027 school years.
Thomas and Gwenyth (Bonnar) Gepp Bursary
The Thomas and Gwenyth (Bonnar) Gepp Bursary provides remission for a new student entering Years 10 to 12, of up to 50% of tuition fees for three years. Preference is offered to a boarding student.
The Thomas and Gwenyth (Bonnar) Gepp Bursary is named in honour of Mrs Gwenyth Gepp (nee Bonnar), who graduated from Walford in 1939, before later returning as a sports mistress in the mid-1940s. Mrs Gepp predeceased her husband, Thomas, and, following his passing in early 2018, we learnt that together they had decided to generously bequeath a gift to the School to be used for a descendant of a Walford old scholar or boarding student who may not otherwise have the means to attend Walford Anglican School for Girls and for certain other purposes.
Description
To be considered for this Bursary, students are expected to meet at least one of the following selection criteria:
* Be a descendant of a Walford Old Scholar.
* Live in a remote/regional area.
* Demonstrated financial need and not otherwise be able to attend Walford.

Boarding Scholarship
A Boarding Scholarship provides remission of up to 50% of tuition fees for the remaining duration of the student's schooling. New students entering Years 7 to 12 are eligible to apply.
Description
To be considered for a Boarding Scholarship, students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
* Be a new student entering the Boarding House.
* Demonstrate good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard throughout her schooling.
* Commit to participation in the life of the School and show the potential to positively contribute to the community.
* Display good character and embrace the School’s values of Courage, Commitment, Community and Growth.
Consideration is also given to candidates residing in an isolated location and/or with demonstrated financial needs who would not otherwise be able to attend Walford.
Accepting applications for entry in 2026 and 2027.
Rural and Remote Boarding Scholarship
The Walford boarding community has a long history of supporting girls from rural and remote Australia, providing a home away from home while they immerse themselves in all of the outstanding academic and co-curricular opportunities the School has to offer.
In response to the challenges faced by families residing in isolated locations, we would like to provide fee relief to the family of an exceptional student who may otherwise be unable to attend Walford.
Description
This scholarship is available for new boarding students entering Years 7 to 12, providing remittance of 60% of tuition fees per year.
To be considered for a Rural and Remote Boarding Scholarship, students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
* Be a new student entering the Walford Boarding House.
* Resides in a rural/remote location with an address more than 100 kilometres away from Walford.
* Demonstrate good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard throughout her schooling.
* Commit to participation in the life of the School and show the potential to positively contribute to the community.
* Display good character and embrace the School’s values of Courage, Commitment, Community and Growth.
* The family has a financial need whereby the student would otherwise be unable to attend Walford.

Music Entrance Scholarship
The Music Entrance Scholarship, for a new student entering Years 5 to 12, provides remission of up to 50% of tuition fees for up to five years.
Description
The scholarship process involves application, interview, and an audition in which two contrasting musical pieces are performed. Selection criteria requires applicants to:
* Be a minimum of Grade 5 standard in her first instrument.
* Demonstrate a sound academic record and continue to make good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard throughout her schooling.
* Commit to contributing to the life of the School through participation in Music and other co-curricular activities and show the potential to positively contribute to the School community.
Accepting applications for 2027 entry.
Rosalie Anne Taylor Music Scholarship
Awarded annually to a new or continuing student in Years 5 to 12.
The Rosalie Anne Taylor Music Scholarship provides remission of up to 50% of tuition fees for up to five years.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for the Rosalie Anne Taylor Music Scholarship students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
• Be a minimum of Grade 5 standard in her first instrument.
• Demonstrate a sound academic record and continue to make good academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard throughout her schooling.
• Commit to contributing to the life of the School through participation in Music and other co-curricular activities, and show the potential to positively contribute to the School community.
Auditions
Auditions will be held for all Music Scholarships.
Candidates should be prepared to play two pieces of contrasting character and may be asked to play a scale or exercise. Where a candidate can play other instruments, she should be prepared to show her ability on them.
The auditions will include aural tests and sight-reading, as well as a discussion to indicate musical knowledge based on the pieces played and the candidate’s general interest in music.

Sport Scholarship
A Sport Scholarship provides remission of up to 40% of tuition fees for new students entering Years 7 to 12, for the remaining duration of the student's schooling.
Description
To be considered for a Sport Scholarship, students are expected to meet the following selection criteria:
* Demonstrate a sound academic record and commitment to continuing to display a high academic standard throughout her schooling.
* Demonstrate skills at an elite level in their chosen sport.
* Commit to participating in the life of the School, and show the potential to positively contribute to the community.
* Display good character and alignment with the School’s values of Courage, Commitment, Community and Growth.

Applications for academic scholarships need to be submitted through ACER. For all other scholarship applications, please complete one of the following application forms:
Applications for the current round of 2027 scholarships will close on Friday 23 January 2026. However, to ensure there are always opportunities for exceptional young women at Walford, we are accepting year-round applications for the Principal's and Boarding scholarships.
