With a deliberate focus on maintaining an intimate school community, Walford ensures that every student feels valued and connected. Comprehensive support services – including access to student and career counsellors – are readily available to nurture students throughout their educational journey.
Boarding House
International students from Year 7 onwards warmly call the Walford Boarding House ‘home’. Setting the benchmark in modern boarding facilities, the rooms within the eight apartments are grouped around a central common room and kitchenette, creating a familiar, homely ambience where girls can relax together and feel genuinely at home. Younger girls entering the House for the first time commonly share a twin room, which includes its own ensuite bathroom, while senior girls have the opportunity for a single suite with a study area and private bathroom.
The Walford Boarding House is renowned for its caring, family-like atmosphere, and the diversity it brings to the Walford community, with girls from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can international students enrol at Walford?
Yes. Walford accepts applications from international students studying in Australia on a student visa, subject to the School’s enrolment requirements and Australian legislative requirements. Walford is registered to enrol full fee paying overseas students in Reception to Year 5, Years 6 to 10, and Years 11 to 12.
Who should international families contact?
International enrolment enquiries should be directed to the Head of Enrolments, who manages the application process and can guide families through requirements, timelines and next steps.
What is required for an international application?
International applications must be submitted on the relevant application form and include supporting documentation, including certified school reports for the previous two years translated into English, proof of age and identity, a copy of the student’s passport, an English language assessment, and information about any additional learning, wellbeing or support needs. Applications can only be processed once all required documentation has been received.
Do international students need to meet English language requirements?
Yes. Where English is not the student’s first language, applicants are required to provide an English language assessment. Walford accepts AEAS, IELTS and TOEFL results, with English proficiency requirements varying according to the year level of entry.
What happens if a student needs additional English support?
English language assessment results help determine whether a student is ready to transition directly into Walford’s mainstream curriculum, or whether an English Language Course for Overseas Students is recommended first. Where ELICOS is required as a condition of enrolment, students are recommended to live in the Walford Boarding House while undertaking intensive English study at another institution.
Are there academic requirements for international students?
Yes. Students must provide evidence of satisfactory academic achievement for their intended year level. In the primary years, this includes age-appropriate progress in literacy and numeracy, while secondary students are generally expected to demonstrate a pass standard, or C grade or above, across most core subjects.
