Walford girls are explorers, adventurers, enquirers and leaders.
Beyond the classroom, our girls gain hands-on learning, personal growth, and resilience through diverse experiences such as cultural immersion and outdoor camps.
Our students receive opportunities to extend their school experience well beyond the classroom.
These avenues of exploration serve as vital pillars in enriching the lives of our students and nurturing their growth not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, and experientially.
From as early as Year 2, students embark on the overnight adventure of the Snooze at the Zoo program, initiating their journey into overnight experiences. This inaugural camp serves as a delightful introduction, laying the foundation for subsequent overnight opportunities. In Years 3 and 4, this experience expands, with students spending an additional night away at camp.
Walford’s Outdoor Education Program plays an integral role in the school curriculum for girls in Years 5 to 9. This program offers a dynamic pathway for students to commune with nature, cultivate independence, collaborate effectively with peers, forge lasting bonds, and push the boundaries of personal growth; nurturing resilient, adventurous, and well-rounded young women.
For students in Years 5 to 10, immersive camps are meticulously designed to encompass regional exploration, delve into history, and foster outdoor education. These experiences are crafted to empower students, equipping them with invaluable life skills, explore ways to overcome challenges, and solidify friendships.
Global Experiences
To prepare our girls for their roles as global citizens, students seize opportunities for interstate and international learning and travel through a variety of offerings.
Language Immersion Tours
Walford’s Languages Program is enhanced by the opportunity for students to travel abroad to France, China, or Spain. There, they can immerse themselves in the culture and people of the nation while improving their second language studies.
Singapore Cultural Exchange
Students studying Chinese in Years 9 and 10 are invited to join the Singapore Cultural Exchange. Students will spend two weeks in this dynamic city before spending ten days in a homestay. They will also attend Chinese classes and enjoy cultural activities at an international language school where their classmates will be students from around the world. The last three days of the trip will be spent sightseeing and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of ‘the lion city’.
Immersion Journey in France
Students in Years 10, 11, and 12 are invited to join the immersive tour of France, organised in partnership with Nacel Australia. Beginning with a few days exploring Paris, participants then journey individually to homestay families across France. Over five weeks, students attend local schools, experience a French Christmas with their hosts, and forge lasting friendships while deepening their understanding of French language and culture.
Ultimate Learning and Adventure
Japan Ski Trip
Providing the ultimate outdoor learning adventure, the Walford Ski Tour to Japan is an exciting excursion that combines physical challenge and courage with a unique cultural immersion experience. Over the course of the trip, students experience the magical ambience and tradition of the Japanese culture whilst enjoying the exhilaration of skiing across expanses of powdered snow fields.
Year 6 Canberra Experience
This immersive trip offers a comprehensive exploration of our nation's history, politics, and culture. Students delve into iconic landmarks such as Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, and Questacon. Guided by experienced educators, they engage in interactive learning experiences tailored to their curriculum, gaining a deeper appreciation for our nation's heritage.
Students are also encouraged to tailor their own experiences, with individual opportunities such as the Oxford Royale Academy Summer School.
