From outstanding academic success, to victory in the sporting arena, Walford students continue to excel. Their determination and commitment to their pursuits is incredible, and we would love to take a moment to acknowledge a few of our students' recent successes:
Academic Competitions
- Debating: Year 5, Year 8 and Year 11 teams all reached the Grand Final; Year 8 team won the Inter B competition.
- Tournament of Minds: The International Language and Literature team received Honours at the International Final.
- National History Challenge
- Kimberley Karanicos Duff-Tytler – Young Historian Gold (State Winner – Year 10 Category; National Finalist – Year 10 Category; National Finalist – Special Category: Australian Women’s History).
- Alexis Bucciarelli – Young Historian Silver (State Winner – Special Category: First Nations People; National Finalist – Special Category: First Nations People; National Finalist – Year 10 Category).
- Oliphant Science Awards
- School Prize: Defence Science and Technology Secondary School Prize – 2nd place (Years 7–10).
- Prize winners 7–8 Science Writing: 1st – Charlotta Wache.
- Prize winner 7–8 Models and Inventions: 1st – Selby Mazel; 2nd – Gabrina Guo.
- Prize winner 7–8 Crystals: 3rd – Samara Connley and Gihana Noordeen; 3rd – Gabrina Guo.
- Prize winner 9–10 Models and Inventions: 3rd – Eden Kelly.
- Highly commended 7–8 Multimedia: Zara Brown and Zali Noble.
- Highly commended 7–8 Models and Inventions: Isabelle Dickson; Dasha Davies and Iliana D’Onise; Quinn Bayne, Jasmie Twelftree and Ki Wing Karin Lee.
Sport
- Lara Wu – Tennis
- Competed in the Year End Masters in Sydney as the final accepted player in the 32-draw.
- Reached the quarter finals and finished 4th, defeating multiple seeded players.
- Triathlon
- Annabelle Wells – Intermediate School Sport SA Triathlon Champion.
- Phoebe Williams, Vivienne McNamara and Charlotte Daunt-Smith – 3rd place in the Junior School Sport SA Team Triathlon.
- Rose Ward
- AFL: Selected in the State U15 Girls Team; Member of the U15 Crows AFLW Academy Program; Plays U18 Sturt
- Taekwondo: National Champion; Attended the AIS Pathways Camp; Selected for and competed in the 2025 National Taekwondo Championships in Adelaide; Will attend the Centre of Excellence (COE) later this year.
- Indi Sully – Soccer
- Selected in the state team for Adelaide; trialled for and made the Junior U15 Mini Matildas.
- Awarded Best Player for both club and state team.
- Received a recommendation letter from SAFA for the national Junior Matildas.
- Charlotte Daunt-Smith – Swimming and Netball
- Competed at Short Course States; trains with the national squad.
- Member of the 2025 Netball Winter Premiers.
- Starla Murphy – Equestrian.
- Top 3 in the Wistow Winter Series.
- Top 2 in the Malala Winter Series at the Royal Adelaide Show.
- Zali Hutchinson – Volleyball
- Competed in the SA Beach Volleyball Series (Mixed Pairs), representing SA.
- Winner of the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships – SA Players’ Player Award.
- Selected for the U15 Volleyball Australia National Performance Program (NPP) – Junior National Women’s Squad.
- Attending national training camp in December.
- Captain of the SA U15 Girls Team at the AYVC in Perth; received the team’s Players’ Player Award.
- Harriet Waters - Hockey
- Co-Captain of the U14 Girls state hockey team, which competed at the Hockey Australia Girls U14 Championships in Brisbane in October.
- Gabrina Guo – Fencing
- Several podium finishes this year at state competitions, including gold (October) and silver (November) in the Open A Women's Foil, gold in the U17/20 Women's Foil in October, and silver in the U15 Women's Foil.
- Rowing Crews – Melbourne Head Regatta
- 1st - schoolgirl pair – Imogen Griffith and Olivia Masters
- 1st - open coxless four – Hannah Silcock, Maisie Eastaugh, Eloise Bagot and Sophie Walsh.
- Rowing Crews – School Premierships Series #1 Regatta
- 2nd – schoolgirl eight A Final (after Seymour and ahead of Scotch, Seymour2, Wilderness and SPG)
- 1st – schoolgirl eight B Final
- 6th – schoolgirl 9/10 A coxed quad A Final
- 4th – schoolgirl 9/10 B coxed quad Final
- 1st – schoolgirl 8/9 A coxed quad A Final
- 1st – schoolgirl 7/8 B coxed quad B Final
