The kind of community we create
Together, we can grow something meaningful for every girl.
Walford is more than a school. Supported by families, old scholars and special friends, it is a place where friendships are formed, perspectives are broadened, and different experiences come together in ways that shape who our girls become and how they see the world.

Every contribution helps strengthen our community
Diversity of perspective deepens classroom conversations, strengthens relationships, and helps every girl learn alongside others whose stories, experiences and talents may be different from her own. It is what gives Walford its character, and what makes it such a meaningful place for every girl.
A community shaped by those in it
The character of Walford has been built over time, and it is something we grow together.
Scholarships make a profound difference to individual students and families, but their impact reaches further than one girl. They strengthen the community of which every Walford girl is a part.
Keira's Walford Expereince
“Coming to Walford was a culture shock in the best way possible. From its many traditions, like Glee, to the Boarding House dinner routine, where we sit together and talk about our days, it creates a strong sense of connection and belonging.
Walford has created an environment that truly feels like a home away from home, where people feel accepted and comfortable. When I first arrived, I felt a little overwhelmed, but I quickly realised that you can ask anyone for help and they will genuinely support you. That reflects the culture Walford has built—one where girls are empathetic, inclusive, and constantly uplift one another.
I’ve been proud to share my own culture, which is a significant part of my identity. Through my involvement with the RAP Committee, I’ve had the opportunity to help embed First Nations culture into everyday school life, which has made me feel more connected and at home.
Being at Walford has opened up so many possibilities for me. It has inspired me to aim higher and see my future as full of opportunity.” Keira Trevorrow, Year 12, Frances Adamson Scholarship Recipient.
In 2023, our community established the Frances Adamson Scholarship. Created through the generosity of our community, it reflects what we can achieve together, and has provided the opportunity for Keira to be part of Walford.
When we each contribute, we help ensure opportunities like this continue.
Why scholarships matter
Scholarships help create:
- A richer learning environment with a broader mix of perspectives and experiences in every classroom.
- Stronger friendships and connections as girls learn alongside others with different backgrounds and life experiences.
- A more grounded, connected community that reflects the world beyond the School gates.
- Opportunities for more girls to contribute their talents, ideas and perspectives to an environment where they can thrive.
- A community shaped by people, not circumstance.
Be part of it
This year's Annual Appeal is centred on participation. Our goal is for everyone to participate, because when we each give a little, we shape something meaningful for every girl.
We invite you to contribute in a way that feels right for you– whether that’s the cost of a coffee each week, or something different. Every contribution plays a part. Every gift, of every size, is valued.
Other ways to give:
While this year’s Annual Appeal is centred on scholarships, you may choose to direct your gift to another area of the School that is meaningful to you, including the Building Fund or Library Fund.
