The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award presents young people with a range of voluntary activities which encourage personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, and active service within the Community. Offered as a non-formal education framework, the Award, provides an engaging opportunity for students to improve their own skills and agency whilst having an impact on the lives of others.

Walford’s unique approach to this Award sees all Year 9 students eligible to achieve their bronze Award before moving into the Senior School. The Year 9 curriculum has been tailored to enable students to participate in the award which in turn leads to many students pursuing their silver and gold awards throughout their Senior Schooling.
