Parents of Walford

Parent Portal

At Walford, we value the communication between our families and the School. To assist with the  timely delivery of information, a web-based community portal has been established for our parents to stay in touch with all school activities and news.

Each parent is allocated an account and a unique password on the portal so both parents in a family will be able to view their daughter’s information. Should you experience any difficulties in accessing the site please contact the Information technology Department: it@walford.asn.au or the Front Office Tel: 8272 6555.

The Community Portal enables parents to:

  • View your daughter(s) academic timetable
  • View her subjects and teachers
  • View relevant reports
  • View relevant contacts
  • Book Parent-Teacher Interviews (Years 6 – 11)
  • Access school fee account and historical transactions
  • Update information for the Walford Directory

Parent Involvement at Walford

The Walford community has a reputation for being vibrant, warm and welcoming.  Our unique community will be part of your daughter’s and your family’s life during her years at Walford and beyond.

At Walford, we value the involvement of parents, friends, staff and old scholars in a range of functions held throughout the year.

Walford parents may choose to be involved with the School through joining one of the many voluntary groups of parents.  These groups and committees help to organise events and fundraising activities, as well as playing an important tole in fostering the wonderful sense of friendship and community within our School. You are welcome to contact the Community Relations Office for any further information about joining one of the groups described below: communications@walford.asn.au or 8373 4062.

Opportunities to Get Involved

The Parent-Teacher Association

The PTA is an integral part of the Walford community. The committee organises a number of social and fundraising events throughout the year including a Welcome to New Parents Evening, Mother’s Day Celebration, the Father’s Day Breakfast, PTA Picnic and many other special events. Parents from the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools are encouraged to join the PTA committee. It is a great way to get to know and enjoy your daughter’s School. The committee of parents and teachers meet once a term to plan activities and to exchange ideas which can further the well-being of the whole school community.

Year Level/Class Representatives

Parents from the ELC through to the Senior School year levels are encouraged to nominate to be Year Level Representatives.  They are invited to attend PTA meetings to provide feedback and support and liaise between parents and the committee.
The Class Representatives play an important role in welcoming new families to the school, building a sense not community throughout the organisation of year level events and supporting attendance at school events.

Rowing Parent Committee

Walford has the most successful school-girl rowing program in South Australia. The Rowing Parent Committee generates strong support and enormous enthusiasm for the crews and the regattas as well as fundraising activities to raise funds for rowing equipment.

The group provides much appreciated support for rowers, as well as wonderful camaraderie for parents and families of rowers.

Volunteering

Parents are always welcome to assist the PTA with their event program, even if it is only for one particular annual event. The contribution of volunteers is also appreciated at school events and major fundraising occasions such as the Walford Ball and Long Lunch. The donation of prizes to raffles and auctions is always much appreciated.
