Giving to Walford

Your gift to Walford will make a real difference in fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of current and future generations of Walford girls. With your help, much can be achieved!

The Frances Adamson Scholarship

“We should continue to work with others to shape the world we want to live in.  Because an outward-looking Australia, fully engaged with the world, is essential to our future security and prosperity.” – Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC

It is with immense pride that in 2023, the year of the 130th birthday of Walford Anglican School for Girls, we launch the establishment of the Frances Adamson Scholarship.

The scholarship will be open for applications in 2024 and commencement in 2025. It will provide the opportunity of a Walford education to courageous and compassionate young women, entering the School in Year 9, 10 or 11, for whom this would not otherwise be possible. Applications from students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and of refugee status, are encouraged.

We are privileged to name this scholarship for one of our most eminent old scholars. Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC has been a trailblazer and exemplary leader in her field of service to Australia as a Diplomat, Consul, Secretary to DFAT and now as the 36th Governor of South Australia. She is an extraordinary role model and inspiration to our students, embodying our School motto of Virtute et Veritate, living with ‘Moral Courage and Truth’. Her Excellency is a strong advocate for education as the gateway to a student achieving not only her best but also being able to contribute to the world, in her own way.

If you would like to donate to this scholarship—which has social justice, integrity and the empowerment of young women at its heart—your contribution would be much appreciated. All donations to the Walford Foundation Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.

My sincere thanks for your support in this life-changing scholarship.
