The Alliance Française competition is open to second language learners of French in Years 10, 11 and 12 in South Australia. This year students were required to work in small groups to create a written and spoken document. In Year 10 the written task was to create a town and to describe this town and its attractions and activities. They then presented an itinerary for a day’s activities in their town. In Year 11, the girls produced a brochure for a planet that does not exist and included details about its location, its inhabitants and also any dangers that it might present. For the oral task, they were a tour operator offering a trip to this planet and outlined the required details for departure and the proposed activities.

We would like to congratulate Freja Abraham, Agnès Tong and Lily Tai who were awarded 1st place in Year 10 and Emily Richardson and Madeline Loucas who were awarded 3rd place in Year 10. In Year 11, Tess Carney, Samantha Parish and Chloé Spears were awarded 1st place.

We would also like to congratulate Claudia Queale in Year 7, whose letter to the Président of SAFTA was awarded 1st place from the letters submitted by Year 7 students at Walford. Each school is invited to submit letters from the Year 7 students to the Président who then chooses the best one from each school.

We would also like to acknowledge the following girls who participated in the poetry recital competition offered by SAFTA.
