It is gives me great pleasure to be able to share with you the exciting news that our Head of Languages, Marlene Jarema, has been announced the winner of The French Teacher Award – prof de l’année for South Australia. Presented by the Federation of Associations of French Teachers in Australia, this is a most prestigious award that acknowledges Marlene’s dedication and commitment to her teaching.
The Award was launched in collaboration with the French Embassy in Canberra and SBS radio and is presented only once every two years. The citation recognises Marlene’s ability to mentor her students and “the wide range of activities undertaken to help her students flourish in their second language learning journey.”
The Award will be presented with formal acknowledgement at a ceremony at the University of Melbourne later this month.
This will be welcomed news to many of our graduates who express their gratitude to Marlene for being their teacher and for their language experience at Walford. Marlene initiated the dynamic French Language Activation Program at Walford and also introduced the DELF program, unique to our School.
Our congratulations to Marlene, an outstanding Walford teacher and mentor!
